Case Presentation
"Early Interceptive Treatment" by Dr. Jennifer
Early interceptive treatment, also known as Phase I orthodontics, usually carried out between the ages of 6 and 10. During this stage, appliances are used to guide jaw development and control how teeth erupt. This approach helps minimize the risk of more serious bite problems, ensures adequate space for incoming permanent teeth, lowers the chance of injury to protruding teeth, and supports better facial balance.
Learning outcomes:
Recognizing the when, why, and how of early interceptive treatment
is key to maximizing its benefits for a child. It also helps general
dentists determine the right time to refer to a specialist, enabling
early intervention that can
prevent or minimize complications and lead to the best possible
outcomes.
